I am Melissa and I make everything you will find in this shop. I have been making candles and bath & body products since I was 9 years old and have worked with just about every ingredient out there, which is why you will see only the highest quality materials and ingredients in my shop. I work with natural, sustainable specialty waxes and ingredients and am educated in Aromatherapy and safe use of Essential Oils and other natural ingredients.
My work methods are based on old-world processes and studied history of how things we take for granted today came to be. Did you know that bayberry wax was popularized by the early American settlers? Did you know that beeswax has a beautiful fragrance that comes from the honey in the hive and the pollen of the flowers visted by the bees in the hive? Did you know that soy and other natural waxes are cleaner and longer burning than paraffin? Making things by hand inspires my imagination and guides me to learn about what it would be like to live in a more primitive world where efficient use of the environment was just a way of life.

August 2011 News:
M Design Boutique was featured on Heartsy.com on Monday July 11th, 2011. A whole surge of new customers flooded M Design Boutique, buying up much of the one-of-a-kind inventory that was available, along with a giant pile of candles! Heartsy orders are still being processed, and I hope to be caught up with all of my shipping for Heartsy customers in the coming weeks. What a success!
M Design Boutique relocated from the Boston area to the Providence area in July of 2011. Business remained un-interrupted during the transition, and wow...what a week that was!
